Toxic Effects of Malathion and Endosulfan on Chick Embryo
نویسنده
چکیده
Toxic effects of malathion and endosulfan to fertile chicken eggs were determined. Injection of 1.25, 2.5, 5.0 and 10.0 mg/egg of malathion into yolk sac of fertile eggs prior to incubation caused mortality of 10.0, 30.0, 83.33 and 93.33% respectively. Similar trend was observed with injection of endosulfan doses. Malathion and endosulfan at 1.25 mg/egg caused no pronounced LD50 increase in mortality as compared to control groups. The LD50 values for these insecticides proved malathion to be more toxic than endosulfan. The hypothesis that the dose response of viable embryo fitted a linear regression line was statistically acceptable. Combination of malathion and endosulfan increased the mortality rate as compared with either one alone. With either compound, an increased dose generally resulted in a decrease in embryonic body weight.

Determination of Malathion and α-Endosulfan Residue in Khazar Rice Using Matrix Solid Phase Dispersion and HPLC
An extraction method based on matrix solid phase dispersion (MSPD) and high performance liquid chromatography with UV detection for quantification of two widely used pesticides (Malathion and α-Endosulfan) in Khazar rice from north of Iran were investigated. The ratio of solid phase (adsorbent) to sample, types of eluting solvent and its volume were optimized to achieve the highest recoveries f...
متن کاملEmbryonic Toxico-pathological Effects of Origanum vulgare: Evaluation of the Gross and Histopathological Lesions using a Chick Embryo Model
Background & Objective: Toxico-pathological effects of herbal plants have always been a major concern, but little information is provided on the toxico-pathological effects of origanum on the fetus. Due to ethical rules and regulations, no drug experiment on the human fetus is permitted; hence, the chick embryo model is used as an ideal opportunity to study the adverse effects of drugs. This ...
متن کاملToxicological studies of pesticides on cytoplasmic streaming in Nitella.
In the present study, changes in velocity of cytoplasmic streaming in the giant internodal cells of Nitella for varying concentration of the pesticides, 2,4-D, dieldrin, malathion, methyl parathion and endosulfan, were measured. Marked decrease in the velocity of cytoplasmic streaming was found at the concentrations of 0.01, 0.1, 1, 10 and 100mM. Dieldrin was the most toxic to all the pesticide...
